Razer has announced the new Basilisk V4 gaming mouse, available in two variants: the Basilisk V4 Pro and the Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed. The company has introduced a 'Perfect 180' feature, which allows users to execute a full 180-degree turn with a single button click, a move that is expected to be controversial within the gaming community.
Razer states the 'Perfect 180' feature is designed for low-sensitivity gaming, where players often need to move their entire arm to turn. The feature can be assigned to one of the mouse's four side buttons via Razer's Synapse software. This functionality has drawn comparisons to SOCD/Snap Tap technology.
The Basilisk V4 Pro is equipped with a 50K optical sensor offering 930 IPS tracking speed and 90G acceleration, along with Frame Sync technology. The Basilisk V4 HyperSpeed features a 33K sensor with 500 IPS tracking. Both models support 8K polling rates in both wired and wireless configurations.
Ergonomics appear to be a strong suit for the Basilisk V4 series, with a design that favors a comfortable grip and well-placed side buttons. Both mice include Razer's Gen-4 tactile switches, noted for their clicky and precise feel. The scroll wheel supports a four-way tilt with a free-spin mode.
The Pro model is priced at $170, while the HyperSpeed version comes in at $110. Both mice can be charged wirelessly via the Razer Mouse Dock V2 Pro, which also functions as an 8K transceiver, or on compatible Razer wireless charging mouse pads. The devices feature Razer's Chroma RGB lighting.
Regarding connectivity and battery life, Razer claims up to 200 hours of use on a HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2 connection at 1,000 Hz, and up to 275 hours using Bluetooth 6.2. The inclusion of the 'Perfect 180' feature is anticipated to be the most discussed aspect of the new mouse, potentially sparking debate among players.
