SteelSeries Unveils Sensei Pro and Rival Pro Gaming Mice with Hot-Swappable Batteries

SteelSeries has announced two new high-end gaming mice, the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro, set to launch on November 15 with a retail price of $179.99. These new peripherals introduce a novel hot-swappable battery system designed to provide effectively unlimited battery life, alongside ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity aimed at reducing wireless interference.

The Sensei Pro offers a symmetrical design suitable for both left- and right-handed gamers, while the Rival Pro features an ergonomic shape tailored for right-handed users. Both models will also be available in smaller "Mini" variants.

The core innovation for both mice is the hot-swappable battery system, similar to that found in SteelSeries' Arctis Nova Pro headsets. Each mouse comes with two rechargeable batteries. One is used in the mouse while the other stays charged in the included base station. SteelSeries states that each battery can last up to 120 hours on a single charge, allowing users to swap in a fresh battery without interrupting gameplay.

Connectivity is handled via ultra-wideband wireless, operating on frequencies above 6GHz. This bypasses the crowded 2.4GHz band commonly used by other wireless devices like controllers and headsets, aiming to prevent signal congestion and ensure stable performance. Combined with an 8K polling rate, SteelSeries claims this setup will eliminate dropouts, stutters, and lag.

Beyond the wireless advancements, the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro are equipped with a TrueMove 42K Pro optical sensor that offers automatic DPI switching based on user activity. They also feature six programmable buttons with optical switches rated for 100 million clicks, extensive customization options through the Steelseries GG PC app, low-friction PTFE feet, and a lightweight construction starting at 49 grams.
