AMD is on track to surpass Intel in total revenue for the first time by the end of 2026, according to projections made by AMD's CFO and treasurer, Jean Hu. The company reported a record quarter with revenue exceeding $13 billion and a net income of $2.4 billion.
For the upcoming quarter, AMD is forecasting revenue figures of approximately $17 billion, a significant increase compared to Intel's projected revenue of $15 to $16 billion for the same period. This would represent a historic milestone for AMD, marking the first time its total revenue has outpaced Intel's.
While surpassing Intel in revenue is a notable achievement, the impact on net income remains to be seen. AMD has consistently turned a profit since 2018, and has previously exceeded Intel in net income, particularly in 2024 when Intel reported a substantial loss of $18.7 billion while AMD posted a profit of $1.6 billion. AMD also outperformed Intel in profit stakes last year.
Despite a challenging quarter for Intel's stock price, the company has returned to profitability. However, AMD's revenue growth has been substantial, nearly doubling in the past two years. This trajectory is a testament to the company's turnaround under CEO Dr. Lisa Su, especially considering AMD's performance in the mid-2010s.
