Atari Hotel and Esports Venue Breaks Ground in Phoenix

Construction has officially begun on the Atari Hotels project in Phoenix, Arizona, with the venue anticipated to open in late 2028 or early 2029. This development, first announced in January 2020, aims to blend advanced technology with unique entertainment and hospitality offerings.

The Phoenix location will feature "high-tech guest rooms," dedicated creator studios, and a sizable esports and concert venue designed to accommodate over two thousand attendees. The complex will also include a sportsbook, multiple themed bars, retail spaces, and dining establishments.

Currently in Phase One, the project involves demolishing the existing building on the site and commencing foundation work for the new hotel. Phase Two is scheduled to follow shortly thereafter. Notable partners and investors in the venture include FaZe Adapt and professional wrestler Henry Cejudo.

"We're pressing ‘start’ on Atari Hotels’ Phoenix property, bringing our vision for the first-of-its-kind venue closer to reality," stated Jordan Taylor, a Partner at Intersection Development. "The opportunity to build an interactive venue like this in our hometown with an incredible partner like Atari is a privilege, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with the community as we break ground."

Wade Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Atari, added, "We're excited to see construction begin on the Atari Hotel and believe in Intersection Development’s vision to create something that speaks to gaming as a consistent pillar of pop culture. This project puts the Atari brand at the heart of a brand-new entertainment experience for fans, tourists, and Phoenix locals."

The hotel's design is being handled by räkkhaus, an architecture studio focused on merging "love, form, and revolution." The licensed Atari hotel intends to leverage the growing convergence of gaming, sports, entertainment, and popular culture.

Initial concept art released in October 2020 depicted a futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired exterior for the hotel, resembling elements from the game Cyberpunk 2077 and shaped like the Atari logo. More recent artistic renderings present a design more aligned with current aesthetic sensibilities.
