French developer Don't Nod, known for the Life is Strange series, has publicly stated that there is "material uncertainty regarding the company's ability to continue as a going concern beyond January 31st, 2027." This announcement comes as the studio begins negotiations with its staff union regarding a "transformation project" that could result in up to 90 job eliminations.

Financial reports for the first half of 2026 indicate a decrease in consolidated gross cash. At the end of July 2026, the company held €8.0 million, down from €15.4 million at the close of 2025. According to the company, its ability to maintain operations hinges partly on securing external financing to cover operational and project development costs.

To address these financial challenges, Don't Nod's management has approved plans for a restructuring. This "transformation" aims to refocus operations in France around a single production line. The stated goal is to consolidate expertise for launching new projects, even as current productions are still underway. The company believes this will allow for greater focus on "priority projects" and provide clearer resource allocation and responsibilities.

CEO Oskar Guilbert acknowledged the difficulty of the proposed measures, stating, "The measures being considered today are difficult; we fully appreciate what they may mean for the employees affected and are ensuring that the necessary support measures are put in place." He emphasized that the plan is "essential to ensuring the Company's continued operations."
