Nathan M. Johnson, who served as a Texas state senator, has been elected Attorney General of Texas. Prior to his political career, Johnson was involved in music production for the popular anime franchise Dragon Ball.

Johnson's music production company created the score for 67 episodes of the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z, as well as for five of the franchise's films: The World's Strongest, The Tree of Might, Broly - Second Coming, Fusion Reborn, and Wrath of the Dragon. He noted in a Facebook post that this work provided him with a unique cultural connection and a creative outlet.

The Funimation dub became the dominant English version of Dragon Ball Z for many viewers and played a role in anime's growing popularity in the West during the late 1990s and early 2000s, particularly through its broadcast on Cartoon Network's Toonami block.

Johnson's past in anime music production is distinct from that of another composer named Nathan Johnson, who scored films directed by Rian Johnson.
