Hugh Jackman, known for his iconic portrayal of Wolverine, has expressed significant interest in co-owning an English football team, mirroring the path taken by his Deadpool co-star Ryan Reynolds with Wrexham AFC.
Jackman revealed his long-standing support for Norwich City F.C., a club currently competing in the second tier of English football. He shared that his connection to the team, nicknamed the Canaries, stems from his mother's birthplace and has led him to follow the club since childhood. Despite growing up in Australia, Jackman has visited Norwich's home ground, Carrow Road, on several occasions over the years.
"It's been slim pickings," Jackman remarked to TalkSport regarding Norwich's success over the past four decades, referencing a Milk Cup victory in 1984. "But we're on the rise. We're on the up and up. I went to Carrow Road a couple of times and love the Canaries, and this is the year. We're going to get promoted. This is my prediction, Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year."
When questioned about rumors of his potential investment in a club, Jackman grinned and responded, "I'm very, very interested... and talking about it right now."
This potential move by Jackman follows the highly publicized success of Ryan Reynolds, who, alongside Rob McElhenney, has been instrumental in Wrexham AFC's recent resurgence and promotion. Jackman's interest suggests a growing trend of Hollywood involvement in English football, potentially bringing significant attention and resources to clubs.
