Author Andrzej Sapkowski has confirmed that a new book in The Witcher series is currently in development, with plans to complete the writing by the end of 2027. Sapkowski indicated that the upcoming novel will once again feature Geralt of Rivia as the protagonist, stating his intention to focus exclusively on the white-haired monster slayer and not introduce other characters like Yennefer in his Witcher narratives.
The latest entry in The Witcher saga, The Witcher: Crossroads of Ravens, was released in 2025 and explored a young Geralt's early experiences as a Witcher. Given Geralt's middle-aged status during the established short stories and novels, Sapkowski sees considerable narrative potential for further exploration of his past.
In a previous interview with IGN, Sapkowski expressed that "Sky is the limit" when discussing the possibility of delving deeper into Geralt's formative years through additional prequels and short stories. He acknowledged that crafting effective short stories presents a distinct challenge, describing it as "much more difficult than writing a novel."
If Sapkowski meets his projected timeline, Polish readers may have access to the new book by late 2027 or early 2028. Based on the release schedule of Crossroads of Ravens, international audiences can anticipate its availability approximately one year later.
