Saber Interactive Credits Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for Studio's Evolution

Saber Interactive's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits has stated that the development of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was a pivotal moment for the studio, significantly influencing both their internal game development processes and their external reputation.

Willits explained that the success of Space Marine 2 has prompted a shift in the studio's philosophy, leading to a higher standard for all future projects. He likened the experience to a "huge hit" that necessitates "awesome" follow-up endeavors. This heightened ambition, he noted, has fueled further success.

The studio has experienced increased interest from major license holders as a result of their work. Willits indicated that Saber is now in a position to decline more opportunities than they accept, suggesting a strong demand for their services on licensed properties. While Saber has also found success with original titles, they intend to continue adapting existing franchises.

Willits highlighted the inherent advantage of working with established intellectual property. He posited that creating a survival horror game based on an original concept would be more challenging than developing one for a recognized property like Hellraiser. Similarly, the familiarity with Warhammer and World War Z has aided in the reception of their respective game adaptations. Willits even suggested that the success of the World War Z video game may have influenced Paramount's consideration of a new film adaptation.
