T-Mobile has introduced a new suite of wireless plans specifically designed for students, featuring significant discounts and bundled streaming services. The "Student Perks" plans align with T-Mobile’s existing Essentials and Experience offerings but are available at a reduced cost for those who qualify.
These plans include unlimited 5G and 4G LTE data, unlimited talk and text, and nationwide 5G coverage, starting at $30 per month. A key feature of the more premium "Experience" tiers is the inclusion of access to Netflix, Hulu, and Apple TV, services that typically amount to around $34 per month if subscribed to separately. All plans are eligible for an additional $5 monthly discount when AutoPay is enabled.
Beyond streaming benefits, Student Perks plans come with standard T-Mobile advantages such as 12 months of complimentary DashPass by DoorDash, weekly T‑Mobile Tuesdays discounts, and a monthly $5 movie ticket. Students can also take advantage of an exclusive 5G Home Internet bundle that offers a virtual prepaid card valued up to $200.
To maintain eligibility for these student discounts, users must verify their student status annually. The launch of these plans coincides with the back-to-school season, reflecting T-Mobile's ongoing initiative to enhance service accessibility. This strategy also encompasses improvements to their online switching platform and same-day device delivery via DoorDash.
Additionally, T-Mobile is launching "EIP Flex 36," a new financing plan aimed at reducing the upfront costs of devices, including the possibility of zero down payment for well-qualified customers. The company has also extended its 0% APR financing plan to 36 months.
Andre Almeida, T-Mobile's Head of Chief Marketing of Brand and Broadband Office, stated that the Student Perks plans and the EIP Flex 36 financing are designed to "remove the barriers that keep people from experiencing everything T‑Mobile has to offer."
