Ubisoft Reportedly Closing Trials Studio RedLynx, Laying Off Staff at Ubisoft Singapore

Ubisoft is reportedly planning to close RedLynx, the studio responsible for the Trials arcade racing games, and simultaneously lay off approximately 70 employees at Ubisoft Singapore, a studio known for its work on the infamously delayed Skull and Bones and the recent Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. This information comes from a report by Video Games Chronicle (VGC).

According to VGC's report, these decisions are part of a broader studio review by Ubisoft management. RedLynx had previously seen staff reductions in October 2025, with the studio being directed to pivot towards mobile game development. The current proposal for closure would potentially affect around 52 individuals. It is noted that RedLynx does not currently have an active game project, which may have influenced the decision.

RedLynx, founded in 2000 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, gained recognition for the Trials series, which offered a physics-based biking experience. In recent years, the studio has reportedly focused on providing support for other Ubisoft titles, including The Division 2 and Star Wars Outlaws. The studio is based in Finland, and Ubisoft will need to navigate local labor laws regarding the proposed closure.

This news follows a period of wider layoffs at Ubisoft during the summer and comes amid ongoing strikes at another studio concerning the publisher's work-from-home policies.

Ubisoft Singapore, established in 2008, has contributed to several Assassin's Creed titles, notably leading development on Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The studio recently resurfaced in the news when dataminers uncovered what appeared to be an epilogue scene for the game, potentially hinting at future content, which Ubisoft subsequently addressed.

Ubisoft has been approached for comment on these reports. The studio's actions reflect ongoing restructuring efforts within the company.
