The UK video game industry's annual charity football event, "One Big Game," has successfully raised more than £63,000 to support physically disabled gamers. Organized by the charity SpecialEffect, the event brought together 24 teams of developers from across the industry for a 24-hour football competition.
SpecialEffect is dedicated to improving game access for individuals with physical disabilities. The charity provides specialized hardware, including custom controllers and eye-gaze support tools, enabling more people to enjoy video games. The funds raised from "One Big Game" will directly contribute to these efforts.
The event featured a series of matches, including a close game where EA narrowly defeated Activision with a score of 3-2. Maverick + Friends faced off against Playground and Rare in another closely contested match, while Jagex secured a 2-1 victory over Xbox's team, "Score more with Xbox."
Recordings of the 24-hour event are available to view on-demand via the official SpecialEffect Twitch account. The charity has indicated that further events are planned for the future, building on the success of this year's fundraiser. The "One Big Game" event has been a consistent effort by SpecialEffect for several years, demonstrating the industry's commitment to charitable causes.
