After a series of delays, IO Interactive has officially announced a release date for 007 First Light on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game, which launched on other platforms in May, is now slated to arrive on Nintendo's latest hardware on March 18, 2027. Developer IO Interactive stated that the additional months will be used to "continue refining the game's optimisation and performance on Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring it meets the standard players expect at launch."
The 007 First Light – Deluxe Edition will be priced at $69.99. Preorders will include early access to a GoldenEye Suit, alongside four Tacsim mission skins and golden gadgets for the Switch 2 version. An Amazon-exclusive 007 First Light – Specialist Edition will feature an additional Classic Tuxedo skin and will be distributed via a game key card.
007 First Light serves as a James Bond origin story, chronicling his 00 training and initial globe-trotting missions. The game has garnered significant praise, with Polygon calling it a successful reinvention of the character and highlighting its engaging gameplay moments, such as an action montage tutorial and a bow tie minigame. It is considered a strong contender for 2026's Game of the Year awards.
The journey to the Nintendo Switch 2 has been lengthy for 007 First Light. Originally scheduled for a summer 2026 launch, the game faced a delay prior to its May release on other consoles. It was subsequently delayed again on the Nintendo Switch 2, moving from its initially planned March 2027 date to its newly confirmed March 18, 2027 release. Fans will be hoping this date holds firm.
