Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Sells Two Million Copies on Launch Day

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has achieved a strong launch, selling two million copies on its release day. While Ubisoft typically remains private about sales figures, the publisher has made an exception to highlight the game's performance. This exception suggests significant pride in the title's commercial reception.

The publisher anticipates this sales trend will continue as more players around the world experience the game. Its launch day success was further underscored by its position as the top-ranked game on Twitch. On Steam, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced recorded a peak concurrent player count of 99,451, marking the highest ever for an Assassin's Creed title on the platform.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is set during the Golden Age of Piracy. Players assume the role of Edward Kenway, a pirate captain who becomes entangled in the long-standing conflict between the Assassins and Templars. The narrative sees Kenway crossing paths with historical figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack as the fate of their pirate endeavors hangs in the balance.

Prior to its release, the game was projected to perform exceptionally well, generating approximately $14 million in gross revenue for Ubisoft. The game is available on PC via Steam, Steam Deck, Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft+, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Since its launch, discussions on the game's Steam page have seen some division. While many players commend the updated graphics, expansive open world, and faithful interpretation of the original 2013 adventure, others have expressed dissatisfaction with the inclusion of cosmetic microtransactions in a single-player experience, an issue they feel has become characteristic of Ubisoft titles.
