Attack on Titan 3 Set for December 10 Release, Deliberately Avoiding Grand Theft Auto 6 Launch

Omega Force and Koei Tecmo have announced a December 10 release date for Attack on Titan 3, positioning the game to launch well clear of Grand Theft Auto 6's November 19 debut. This marks the first new Attack on Titan game from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force in over eight years. The title will adapt the entirety of the manga's narrative, including its conclusion, with players taking on the role of a customizable original character instead of series mainstays like Eren, Armin, or Mikasa.

In addition to the release date, pre-orders are now open, featuring a physical Steelbook edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. The Digital Deluxe version includes cosmetic downloadable content, a digital art book, and grants 72 hours of early access to the game across all platforms except the Nintendo Switch 2. Players who possess save data from Attack on Titan 2 will also receive an in-game bonus.

Attack on Titan 3 is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Its December launch places it among the final major AAA releases anticipated for a busy fall 2026 season in the video game industry. This strategic release window indicates the significant impact even non-competing titles feel from Grand Theft Auto 6's market presence, with other games in September and October also adjusting their launch schedules to avoid the direct competition. The few titles opting for releases close to Grand Theft Auto 6's launch are primarily ports or remasters, such as Barbie Rewind, Gothic 3 Classic, or the Switch 2 port of Metaphor ReFantazio.

December is also shaping up to be a competitive month for Japanese-developed titles, with Attack on Titan 3 facing potential competition from games like Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
