Gamers will have a busy August 13 with several significant titles set to release, offering a variety of genres to suit different tastes. This date stands out as one of the final major release days of the summer, preceding a September slate that includes highly anticipated games like Star Wars Zero Company, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition.
Madden NFL 27 is poised to continue the long-running football simulation series, with EA implementing a substantial overhaul to its Franchise Mode. The new Persona Engine aims to bring more depth by giving each athlete unique motivations that influence contract negotiations, player responses, and free agency behavior. The title also promises dynamic weather conditions and more realistic interactions between wide receivers and defensive backs, seeking to differentiate itself from prior installments. Madden NFL 27 will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Duskfade, described as a tribute to classic 3D action platformers like Kingdom Hearts and Super Mario, places players in the role of Zirin on a quest to find his sister in the world of Tearfeld. The gameplay blends platforming with combat, featuring elements such as grappling hooks and boss battles that require both fighting and platforming skills. The game presents a visually rich, colorful, and dynamic “clockpunk” aesthetic with otherworldly environments. Duskfade is slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, a new entry in the realistic first-person shooter series, shifts the focus to the Vietnam War. Building on the 50v50 team battles of its predecessor, players will work to control map sectors. The game emphasizes historical accuracy, featuring real-life locations, weapons, and tactical gameplay. Players can align with either the US Armed Forces or the North Vietnamese Army, taking on various roles and utilizing different equipment. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will be released for PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Beyond these major releases, August 13 also sees the launch of retro Soulslike title Memoirium and the sports comedy game Pro Jank Footy, both for Windows PC. The breadth of genres available on this single release day suggests that a wide range of players will find something new to experience before the end of August.
