Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are now available digitally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. However, the pricing for these ports has drawn attention, with each game retailing for $40 individually.
This brings the total cost to $80 for both titles. The expense escalates further when considering the downloadable content. Each game offers a separate season pass priced at $29.99, meaning a complete experience including all DLC for both Black Ops 1 and 2 could cost up to $140. This pricing model for games released over a decade ago has been a point of concern for fans.
A significant discount is available for PlayStation Plus subscribers. For these members, each game is priced at $20, with season passes at $9 each. This brings the total cost for the complete edition of both games down to approximately $60. This offer is valid until August 6.
Additionally, Black Ops 2 includes a free pack that grants access to customization packs previously available for purchase in the original game. The ports do not introduce new features or crossplay functionality. The original games' servers have been affected by hackers, making a fresh start with these new ports potentially beneficial for a more stable online environment.
Some content has been removed from these re-releases. Reports indicate that wager matches and theater mode are no longer available, mirroring suspicions raised by earlier trophy list leaks. Despite these omissions, the core content remains intact, with players retaining full access to the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes. The emblem editor has also been retained.
