Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Now Available for Pre-Order Players

The campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now playable for players who have preordered the game, launching today, October 16. The campaign can be preloaded and unlocks at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game's developer, Infinity Ward, has issued a public statement requesting that players refrain from sharing story spoilers.

"We have one ask. Let everyone experience it for themselves. Keep the campaign spoilers under wraps," Infinity Ward stated. "Time to go dark."

Modern Warfare 4 is anticipated to bring a close to the current Modern Warfare narrative that began with the 2019 title. Activision CEO Tyler Bahl described MW4 as the "epic conclusion of the recent series of Modern Warfare." He noted that while certain characters and elements might persist and be reimagined in the future, the studio is focused on concluding this chapter and initiating a new one, emphasizing the need for innovation in subsequent installments. In line with this, Bahl confirmed that Call of Duty is developing a new sub-franchise separate from the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series.

The official launch date for Modern Warfare 4 is October 23. Early access extends beyond the campaign, with a new version of DMZ unlocking on October 20 for those who have preordered. The full multiplayer component will be available starting October 23.
