Activision has announced that the DMZ mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available for early access on Tuesday, October 20, three days prior to the game's official launch. This early access perk extends to players who pre-order any edition of the game, including standard and Vault versions, and is available across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's campaign also offers early access starting on October 16 for those who pre-order.
DMZ is described as the "definitive extraction shooter experience" and is an open-world mode that pits players against both AI combatants and other human players. The core gameplay loop involves searching for loot, crafting gear, and completing objectives, with the ultimate goal of reaching an exfiltration point to secure rewards. This iteration of DMZ builds upon the mode that originally debuted with 2022's Modern Warfare 3, which was initially released as a free-to-play beta within Warzone. The new version for MW4 is expected to be a significant improvement, incorporating a new social space.
Further details on the new DMZ version can be found in GameSpot's previous coverage.
