Chill Sci-Fi Game Faraway Gets Release Date After 16 Years

After more than 16 years of development, Steph Thirion's contemplative sci-fi title, Faraway, has finally received a release date. The game is set to launch on November 5 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

Faraway is described as a one-button, procedurally generated arcade experience that takes players on a tour of the cosmos. First announced in 2010, the game follows a shooting star's journey across space. Players aim to create constellations using gravity to slingshot their ship to new locations and maintain its fuel. Each playthrough begins anew, with the universe generated in real-time based on player performance. As players improve, they will gain speed, score, and access to more challenging regions of the game's universe.

In addition to its endless mode, Faraway will feature 16 handcrafted puzzle stages designed to encourage unique problem-solving. The game aims to blend relaxation with elements of discovery, replayability, and long-term mastery. Annapurna Interactive, known for publishing games with strong artistic visions, will publish Faraway. The publisher's recent releases include the driving game Road Trip and the acclaimed Silent Hill: Townfall, with upcoming titles such as the fantasy adventure Demi and the Fractured Dream, the hidden-object game Uncanyon, and the action RPG We Kill Monsters.
