Control Resonant Goes Gold, Physical Edition Delayed to October 15

Remedy Entertainment has announced that development on Control Resonant has officially gone gold, signifying the completion of the hack-and-slash sequel to 2019's Control. While the digital release remains on track for September 24, the physical edition has been postponed to October 15.

The studio shared the news on its official X account, attributing the delay in the physical release to needing "just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you." This means players opting for a disc will experience a roughly three-week delay compared to the digital launch.

Control Resonant shifts from the third-person shooting mechanics of its predecessor to a more melee-focused hack-and-slash combat system. Players will step into the role of Dylan Faden as he navigates a supernaturally altered Manhattan. Although not strictly an open-world title, the game features open-ended zones designed to encourage player exploration and freedom. Remedy estimates the main story will take around 30 hours to complete, more than double the 12-hour runtime of the original Control. Fans are also anticipating potential connections to the wider Remedy Universe and possible appearances from characters from Alan Wake.

Control Resonant is scheduled for release on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
