Remedy Entertainment has announced that Control Resonant has officially gone gold, signifying the completion of its main development cycle. The action-RPG is slated for a digital release on September 24. However, players opting for a physical copy will experience a staggered launch, with the disc edition delayed until October 15.
This decision to separate digital and physical release dates was shared by Remedy via its official Bluesky account. For PlayStation 5 owners eager to play even sooner, the digital deluxe edition of Control Resonant offers two-day early access for $70, while the standard digital edition is priced at $60.
The topic of physical game releases has become a point of discussion in the industry, particularly following Sony's announcement that it will cease disc production in 2028, strongly suggesting future PlayStation consoles will not feature disc drives. Furthermore, titles like Grand Theft Auto VI are confirmed to forgo physical releases entirely.
Control Resonant serves as a follow-up to 2019's Control, shifting the player's focus to Dylan Faden, the sibling of the original game's protagonist, Jesse Faden. Remedy has indicated that the game will omit a parry mechanic, encouraging players to concentrate on offensive capabilities. The narrative is expected to explore themes of trauma and redemption. The title is scheduled to be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
