The Metroidvania-inspired title Echo Weaver will launch on October 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This release date was exclusively revealed by Game Informer.
Echo Weaver places players in the role of the last Weaver within a desolate world. The gameplay centers on traversing an expansive 2D map, engaging in combat, solving puzzles, and acquiring new abilities, hallmarks of the Metroidvania genre. However, the game distinguishes itself through its "Metroidbrainia" approach, where progression is less about unlocking abilities and more about the player's mastery of existing mechanics. While the game does feature tutorial areas for specific skills, players are not restricted from using an ability if they discover it organically before its designated lesson.
Early impressions of Echo Weaver suggest thoughtful design in its puzzles, combat, and platforming elements. The game also features a persistent time-loop mechanic, which developer Moonlight Kids has highlighted as a key feature.
