Nintendo and Bandai Namco have released new gameplay footage of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition running on the Nintendo Switch 2, offering a glimpse of the acclaimed action-RPG on the new hardware. The game is scheduled to launch on August 28.
The latest showcase provides a brief overview of Elden Ring's core elements for newcomers, highlighting its cooperative multiplayer and challenging Soulslike combat. For returning players, the video does not reveal significant new details about the "Tarnished Edition's" pre-built starting classes.
In addition to official direct-feed gameplay, off-screen footage has also emerged, demonstrating the game in both docked and handheld modes. A nine-minute segment from Japanese outlet Denfaminico Gamer suggests a playable experience on the Switch 2.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was initially announced for a 2025 release. Following concerns raised after its appearance at Gamescom last summer, where the game reportedly ran poorly, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco opted to delay the port to allow for further development. Recent demonstrations, however, have indicated that the developers have successfully optimized the open-world fantasy role-playing game for Nintendo's hybrid console.
This Switch 2 version was first revealed in April 2025 alongside other rereleases for the platform, including Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, and Hitman World of Assassination. The Tarnished Edition bonus content will also be available as paid downloadable content for existing platforms.
Elden Ring is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Switch 2 version is set to release on August 28.
