Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 July 23

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23. This release brings the beloved Final Fantasy X and its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, to the console with several new features.

For the first time in a console version of the remaster, players will have access to a highly requested high-speed mode, which allows for faster gameplay progression. Additionally, a toggle for random encounters will be included, giving players the option to turn off enemy encounters entirely. While these quality-of-life improvements have been available in the PC version of the remaster, their inclusion marks a significant addition for console players.

The HD Remaster features updated visuals for characters, monsters, and backgrounds, along with fully remastered and arranged music. Elements from the Final Fantasy X/Final Fantasy X-2 International versions are also recreated in this package. The original HD Remaster first released in the U.S. in 2014, and this Switch 2 port will bring these enhancements to a new audience.

This release coincides with the growing anticipation for potential future installments, with the notes suggesting that increased player engagement with Final Fantasy X and X-2 might encourage Square Enix to develop Final Fantasy X-3.
