Sony and PlayStation have officially announced Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition, a new iteration of the 2025 open-world action game, scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 on October 1, 2026. This expanded version will include a wealth of new content not present in the original release.
Echoes of Sekigahara, a bonus story episode, introduces a fresh narrative set across new locations with new characters. The story will be split between the present day and flashbacks to the protagonist Atsu's time on the mainland. Players will encounter Nagato, a figure from Atsu's past, and explore a previously unseen valley inhabited by a gang known as The Vipers. The past segments will depict Atsu's experiences during the Battle of Sekigahara and a pivotal moment before her return for vengeance, featuring new enemies and heavy weapons.
The Complete Edition also adds a roguelike survival mode called Most Wanted. In this mode, players accept bounties and defeat enemies, growing more powerful and acquiring new tools with each successful contract. This mode will also unlock additional playable characters, each specializing in a different weapon type.
Beyond new gameplay modes and story content, Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition incorporates features from the original's Digital Deluxe Edition, including the online co-op mode Legends. It will also feature new music for Watanabe Mode, additional Photo Mode stamps, new cosmetics for New Game Plus, and new Trophies.
For players who already own Ghost of Yōtei on PS5, an upgrade path to the Complete Edition will be available for £11.99/$14.99. This 'top-up' option allows existing owners to access the new content without repurchasing the entire game.
