God of War Laufey is set to release on PlayStation 5 on February 16, and will include a physical edition. The game is set during the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2022), following Kratos' wife, Faye, as she awakens in the afterlife.
Editions and Preorder Bonuses
The Standard Edition is available for preorder digitally and physically. The Digital Deluxe Edition, available only digitally, includes the base game along with several digital extras. These include the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, an In-Game Resource Pack, a Digital Mini Artbook, and the Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack. For those who purchase the standard digital edition or the physical edition and wish to acquire these extras, a Digital Deluxe Upgrade is available for $10 on the PlayStation Store.
Preordering any edition of God of War Laufey will also grant players in-game preorder bonuses. These include the Last Wish Armor Set, Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance (a cosmetic item), and an in-game resource pack.
About God of War Laufey
God of War Laufey continues the series by centering on Faye, Kratos' wife who passed away before the events of the 2018 game. The narrative begins immediately after Faye's cremation, with her awakening in a realm known as the Everywhen. This afterlife is a battleground where gods from various mythologies contend for power, drawing Faye into their conflicts. Faye is voiced by Deborah Ann Woll and is accompanied by magical ribbons named Rue and a cosmic cube named Phranque.
The combat in God of War Laufey is described as lighter and more fluid than in previous entries, primarily featuring sword-based attacks. Faye can also utilize a bow and arrow. Given that the Everywhen is the source of all magic, magical abilities are expected to play a significant role in gameplay.
