AdHoc Studio announced that its superhero workplace comedy game, Dispatch, will launch on Xbox in July. The game is slated to arrive on Microsoft's console in two weeks, on Wednesday, July 29, and is currently available to wishlist on the Xbox Store. This release comes nearly a year after its initial debut on PC and PlayStation 5 in October.
A version for the Nintendo Switch was released in January, but its launch was initially impacted by unforeseen censorship. A subsequent patch last month largely resolved these issues, and it was confirmed at the time that the Xbox version would not be subject to similar restrictions. The Xbox version of Dispatch will not feature the censorship that affected the Switch release.
Dispatch was first revealed for Xbox during the March Xbox Partner Preview showcase. Developed by industry veterans who previously worked at Telltale Games, the studio behind titles like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, Dispatch was originally released episodically. It is unclear if the Xbox version will also adopt a staggered release for its chapters, and there has been no confirmation of its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass.
IGN's review of Dispatch awarded it a 9/10, describing it as a "true spiritual successor to the Telltale Games of the 2010s." The publication highlighted the game's ability to blend television show and video game elements, its strong cast of multidimensional characters, excellent writing, and star-studded voice cast. The review emphasized Dispatch's nature as an emotional and decision-packed adventure that focuses on the heroes behind the superpowers.
