Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Encore Edition Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 in November

The celebrated action-adventure game Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5th, under the title Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition. This release offers players another opportunity to experience the cosmic escapades of Star-Lord and his band of misfits.

The original Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy game, developed by Eidos-Montréal, was released in 2021 to critical praise. Despite positive reception, Square Enix noted that its sales performance did not meet initial expectations. The Encore Edition aims to bring the game to a new audience on Nintendo's latest hardware.

A Familiar Adventure with a Fresh Coat of Paint

At its core, the Encore Edition remains the same game that players enjoyed in 2021. Players assume the role of Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, leading the Guardians through a narrative-driven experience that blends combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. A key feature highlighted in reviews is the genuine character interaction, where the relationships players foster with teammates like Groot, Rocket, Drax, and Gamora can influence gameplay.

Polygon's review of the original game specifically noted how these relationships manifested, with characters sometimes taking initiative based on the player's treatment of them. This emphasis on character dynamics and authentic dialogue was a standout element.

The Encore Edition brings graphical enhancements optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, the release includes new cosmetic content for Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. These new outfits are inspired by an 80s glam rock aesthetic.

Players can preorder Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition for $35.99, with the price set to increase to $39.99 after November 5th.
