Brotherwise Games and author Brandon Sanderson are expanding their tabletop presence with a new Mistborn expansion for the Cosmere RPG, now available for preorder on Amazon. The expansion, slated for a November 4 release, includes several key rulebooks for fans looking to dive deeper into the world of Scadriel.
The core of the new release is the Mistborn Handbook, which serves as the primary resource for creating characters within either era of the Mistborn series. This guide also offers general advice for Game Masters designing campaigns set in Scadriel, with a specific focus on the unique metallic arts of Allomancy and Feruchemy central to the Mistborn narrative.
Complementing the handbook is the Campaign Guide, designed to integrate player characters into the established settings of the books. Campaigns can be played across two distinct Eras of Mistborn, with narrative choices potentially having long-term consequences. The Era 1 campaign content is geared towards characters levels 3-6, while Era 2 content is designed for levels 3-9.
For newcomers to the Cosmere universe, a 24-page Welcome to Scadriel guide is also available. This visual primer aims to familiarize players with the world of Scadriel, making it an accessible entry point for those who may not have read Sanderson's novels.
The Cosmere RPG's initial releases, focusing on the Stormlight Archive setting, were well-received. IGN noted in its review that the game system offered a strong foundation with flexible character development and robust narrative mechanics.
This is not the first tabletop adaptation of the Mistborn series. Crafty Games previously released the Mistborn Adventure Game in 2012, which focused on Era 1. More recently, Brotherwise Games also launched a Mistborn Deckbuilding game, which received positive reviews for its innovative approach within the genre.
