Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo Arrives on Switch 2 Next Week

Capcom is providing an opportunity for players to experience Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 ahead of its full release with the 'Prologue demo.' This demo will be available starting October 19th, with the game itself scheduled to launch on the platform on December 4th.

The Prologue demo allows players to engage with the game's opening content, extending up to the section titled "To the Forest." While this version is offline-only, it grants access to all 14 weapon types and the full character creator. Notably, save data from the demo will transfer to the complete game, mirroring the functionality seen in PC and other console versions.

Unlike other platforms, the Switch 2 demo includes a local multiplayer option. Players can team up for hunts if another nearby Switch 2 owner also has the demo downloaded, offering a taste of the game's intended cooperative experience.

Capcom's decision to offer a demo comes amid earlier speculation regarding the performance of a game as substantial as Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch 2. The developer has reportedly found the process of optimizing the game for the hybrid console to be challenging, with the Switch 2 version's development contributing to improvements across all other platforms. This effort is part of Capcom's broader goal to make Monster Hunter Wilds more popular than its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, with an ultimate aim to surpass its sales and acclaim. Further content, such as the upcoming expansion Ascendance, is expected in the future.
