Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is set to officially launch its 1.0 version on September 2, concluding its early access period that began last fall. Developer Digital Sun and publisher 11 Bit Studios are marking the occasion with a limited-time giveaway of the original Moonlighter on Steam.
This sequel continues the hybrid gameplay loop of its 2018 predecessor, Moonlighter. Players once again step into the role of Will, a shopkeeper who delves into dungeons to acquire goods for his store. The 1.0 release will introduce a definitive conclusion to the game's narrative, along with new weaponry, armor sets, and the "Bomb path" ability, which causes enemies to explode upon defeat. Polygon's early access review noted the game's potential, stating it "is not the perfect dungeon-to-shop simulator, but with developer Digital Sun running the register, it has the potential to be." The game has garnered approximately 1,200 "Very Positive" player reviews on Steam.
The full launch of Moonlighter 2 coincides with a busy period for new game releases. Several titles are slated for August 27 and the following week, with a significant number of high-profile games, including Marvel's Wolverine and Silent Hill: Townfall, scheduled for September.
Beyond its PC and Xbox Series X early access availability, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault will also be released on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. A demo for the game is currently accessible across all announced platforms.
