Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault Sets September 2 Release Date; Original Game Free for Limited Time

Digital Sun's shopkeeping roguelite sequel, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, will officially launch on September 2. The game's original iteration is also temporarily free on Steam, available to claim until August 9.

The Endless Vault, which entered early access late last year, will see its 1.0 release with several new additions. These include new Endless tools, such as a short sword that grows stronger with momentum and gauntlets that enhance attack power. Players will also be able to upgrade their shop up to level five, unlocking an additional Bloblet slot for a companion to join them on dungeon-crawling expeditions. For those eager to try the game before its full release, a demo is currently available.

A significant update accompanying the 1.0 launch will introduce the seventh and final Endless Vault, concluding the game's story. A new hardcore difficulty mode will also be available for players seeking a greater challenge, featuring a penalty that results in the loss of collected relics, mirroring a mechanic from the original Moonlighter.

In conjunction with the sequel's impending launch, the original pixelated Moonlighter is free to add to Steam libraries until August 9. This offer provides an opportunity to experience the full game, which shares a similar Zelda-esque aesthetic and gameplay loop with its successor.

Players can wishlist and try the demo for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault now.
