Capcom has shifted the release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, moving the title to launch in the first week of September. The game was originally slated for a September 25 release but will now be available on September 4.
This adjustment places Onimusha: Way of the Sword's launch just one day after The Blood of Dawnwalker, a more favorable position compared to its prior September 25 date, which would have seen it released shortly after Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall. The decision to move the release forward may be a response to the crowded release schedule anticipated in late September.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game features a modernized approach to the series' signature swordplay, elements of which have been highlighted in previews following hands-on experiences from August of last year and Summer Game Fest 2026.
