Onimusha: Way of the Sword Release Date Moved Up to September 4

Capcom has moved the release date for its upcoming action-adventure RPG, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, forward to September 4. Initially slated for September 25, the game will now be available for players to experience sooner, positioning it as an earlier entry in the busy latter half of 2026.

What was previously advertised as a pre-order bonus will now be an "early adopted bonus." This bonus will be available to all players on consoles until September 24 at 11:59 p.m. local time, and on Steam and the Epic Games Store until September 24 at 4:59 p.m. PDT. The bonus includes cosmetic items such as the lion dog charm and sealed curse sword appearance. Players who purchase the deluxe or premium deluxe editions will also receive a white monkey charm and white lion sword appearance.

A demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. This demo offers a glimpse into the game's combat and features an early section of the game. Those who play the demo will receive a kubi akari charm upon the full game's release.

The revised release date places Onimusha: Way of the Sword just one day after the launch of another anticipated RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. This adjustment means the game will not directly compete with Silent Hill: Townfall or Control Resonant, and it provides players with additional time to complete it before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in November.
