Pikmin 4 is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12th, bundled with a new mode called Dandori Academy. A playable demo will be available on the Nintendo eShop starting November 2nd, with any progress carrying over to the full game.
Dandori Academy functions as a timed challenge mode. Recent gameplay demonstrations showcased an exam called Gargantuan Garden, where players race against the clock to collect gold nuggets. The Switch 2 edition will also introduce voice commands for Oatchi, the canine companion. Players who already own Pikmin 4 on the original Switch can purchase an upgrade pack from the eShop.
Nintendo had previously stated that the recent Pikmin Day Direct would not feature new game announcements. Instead, Shigeru Miyamoto introduced Fuka Koshiba as a new ambassador for the Pikmin series, and the company officially designated November 1st as Pikmin Day.
Pikmin 4 was originally released on the Switch in July 2023. This new edition is one of two significant Nintendo releases scheduled for November, alongside a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is slated for release on November 5th.
