Nintendo will launch a physical Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A with its Mega Dimension DLC bundled in.
The complete version of the game will launch on cartridge on October 29, The Pokémon Company confirmed. This release includes a version of the game playable on the Nintendo Switch 2, though the cartridge will also function on the current Switch hardware.
The Mega Dimension expansion allows players to embark on further adventures in Lumiose City through new portals created by Hoopa. Key features of the expansion include the temporary control of Pokémon at levels above 100 and encounters with additional Mega Evolutions, such as Darkrai, Magearna, and Baxcalibur.
While Mega Dimension was previously released as a separate download, this combined package ensures that new purchasers of Pokémon Legends: Z-A will receive the complete game in a single purchase. Buyers will also receive a gift of 100 Ultra Balls.
This re-release comes as Nintendo has no major new Pokémon titles scheduled for the current holiday season. The next generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, are slated for release next year exclusively for the Switch 2.
IGN awarded Pokémon Legends: Z-A an 8/10 in its review, stating, "Pokémon Legends: Z-A finally feels like Game Freak hitting its stride in Pokémon's 3D era. Lumiose City may not be visually exciting, but exciting Pokémon encounters, well-written characters, and amusing side quests still make it fun to explore."
