Preorders for the Pokémon Trading Card Game's upcoming Pitch Black expansion Booster Bundles are now available again at Amazon. While the price exceeds the original MSRP, it remains considerably below typical market rates seen on secondary sales platforms.
The Pitch Black expansion, slated for release on July 17, will feature over 115 cards, including six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, four Pokémon ex, 11 Illustration Rare Pokémon, 18 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards, six Special Illustration Rares, and over 20 Trainer cards. It is described as a more concise set compared to the 295-card checklist of the Ascended Heroes expansion.
Four Mega Evolution Pokémon have been confirmed for Pitch Black: Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex. Mega Darkrai ex, in particular, is highlighted for its potential competitive impact with the "Abyss Eye" attack, which can Knock Out an opponent's Active Pokémon if it is affected by a Special Condition, regardless of its remaining HP. The expansion's Elite Trainer Box will include a Zarude Illustration Rare promo card.
Amazon's preorder price for the Booster Bundles, which contain six Pitch Black packs each, is set at $57.92. This price point, approximately $9.65 per pack, represents a saving compared to resale markets but is around $28 higher than the original $30 MSRP. The listings are directly sold and shipped by Amazon, not third-party sellers. Amazon's preorder price guarantee ensures that customers will not pay more than the price at the time of ordering and will receive any subsequent discounts retroactively. Payment is deferred until the item ships.
