Shroom and Gloom, a Roguelike Deckbuilder, Launches in Early Access

Shroom and Gloom, a roguelike deckbuilder with a distinct focus on mushrooms and a unique double-deck mechanic, has officially launched into early access. Developed with a "positively mycelial" theme, the game invites players to explore spore-filled dungeons with two distinct card decks guiding their progress.

The game immediately distinguishes itself with its striking visual style. Dense, layered tunnels form the backdrop for encounters with comic-book-inspired creatures and environments, rendered with thick line art that contributes to an alluring, grubby aesthetic. This artistic direction is complemented by a gameplay system that utilizes two separate decks, each serving a different purpose.

One deck is dedicated to combat, offering a variety of cards for dealing damage and affecting enemies in unique ways. The second deck, however, is built around exploration. These cards allow players to interact with their surroundings, facilitating actions such as camping, acquiring new cards, or even preparing soup. This division of mechanics aims to create a cohesive and engaging experience.

Players will navigate through two distinct paths within the dungeons, one offering a more traditional dungeon-crawling feel, while the other leans into a slightly more sci-fi aesthetic. The game also presents a choice of five characters, though details on their specific abilities and differences are not yet fully detailed. Shroom and Gloom is now available for purchase on Steam.
