Nintendo has announced that GameCube classic Super Mario Sunshine will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on August 13.
The 2002 platformer sees Mario and his friends vacationing on the tropical Delphino Island, only for their trip to be disrupted by Bowser Jr. and his graffiti-spreading antics. Players will utilize Mario's signature gadget, the F.L.U.D.D. water-powered backpack, to clean up the island, hover, and blast enemies.
Super Mario Sunshine is notable for its unique jetpack-centric gameplay and for introducing characters such as Bowser Jr. and Toadsworth. The game was previously re-released as part of a limited-time collection in 2020 but has otherwise been difficult to access on modern hardware.
This addition expands the GameCube library available to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, which already includes titles like Luigi's Mansion and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The service also plans to add D-Hopper and Zero Racers, previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles, on August 4.
Additionally, Nintendo will be adding two previously announced Virtual Boy titles, D-Hopper and Zero Racers, to the Nintendo Switch Online service on August 4. These games have never been released before and represent a piece of gaming history for dedicated fans.
