Rebel Wolves, a studio co-founded by key figures from CD Projekt Red, is set to launch its debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, on September 2 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The game is being positioned as a spiritual successor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with several of its former developers now working on the new project. Among them are Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who served as game director on The Witcher 3, as well as senior writer Jakub Szamalek and art director Bartłomiej Gaweł.
The Blood of Dawnwalker places players in the role of Coen, a character who lives as a human by day but harbors a vampire curse by night. Players will face the choice of embracing these dark powers while simultaneously working to save their family. The game's narrative will feature difficult decisions, and an in-game clock that advances with quest completion means that experiencing all content in a single playthrough will be impossible.
According to Tomaszkiewicz, the game is expected to last up to 70 hours. He also revealed at Summer Game Fest that The Blood of Dawnwalker is intended as the beginning of a larger saga that will eventually progress into modern times, with the current game set in the 14th century. Player choices made in The Blood of Dawnwalker are designed to have a lasting impact on future installments, mirroring a similar approach seen in The Witcher 3's branching narrative structure.
