The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Gets August Switch 2 Release Date, Full Game on Cartridge

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11th, Bethesda and developer Virtuos have confirmed. Pre-orders for both the Standard and Deluxe editions are now available on the Nintendo eShop.

The Deluxe edition includes additional quests, armor sets, and weapons beyond the base game and its original expansions. Pricing is set at £49.99 for the Standard version and £59.99 for the Deluxe edition.

A significant detail for physical release collectors is that the entirety of Oblivion Remastered will be present on the game cartridge. This marks a departure from recent Bethesda ports like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, which included a code in a box or a game key card instead of the full game on-disc media.

The Switch 2 port is targeting 900p resolution at 30 frames per second in handheld mode and 1080p at 30 FPS when docked. The game will also feature DLSS upscaling support to aid performance. Control options for the port will include motion controls, touch screen support, and a mouse mode, offering a comprehensive suite of input methods.

Oblivion Remastered was initially released in 2025 and was noted for its ambition, particularly with its reported use of Unreal Engine 5. While the developer has focused on deeper performance issues in later patches, the translation to the less powerful Switch 2 hardware is an intriguing prospect for fans eager for a portable version of the Cyrodiil-set RPG.
