The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Arrives on Switch 2 This August

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11. Bethesda and Nintendo announced the release date with a promotional video featuring a character dressed as the Oblivion Adoring Fan.

The remaster of the 2006 role-playing game was initially released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox last year. This enhanced version aimed to remind players of Oblivion's merits, with some fans even arguing its superiority over Skyrim. The original launch, however, was accompanied by some of the bugs characteristic of Bethesda titles.

This upcoming Switch 2 release allows players to experience the game on the go, more than a year after its initial debut. The port follows a period of quiet from Bethesda regarding the Switch 2 version, with previous statements indicating a release when the game was ready. The development of the remaster involved Virtuos, a support studio that collaborated with Bethesda. Despite the remaster's successful launch, Virtuos reportedly faced layoffs shortly after its release, with the studio having also contributed to post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077 and moving onto projects like The Witcher 4.
