A new deluxe edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fall of Númenor: And Other Tales From the Second Age of Middle-Earth" is now available for preorder. This hardcover volume joins three other substantial Tolkien tomes, offering stories that precede "The Fellowship of the Ring."
The book is priced at $75 and is scheduled for release on November 10. Its launch timing coincides with the anticipated third season of Prime Video's "The Rings of Power," a series set within the Second Age of Middle-earth's timeline.
This 352-page edition features illustrations by Alan Lee, a long-time illustrator of Tolkien's works. The stories were originally compiled and edited by Christopher Tolkien from his father's writings. The narrative is set during the Second Age, prior to "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings," and focuses on the Elves of Eregion as they are tasked by Sauron to forge the Rings of Power.
The deluxe edition boasts a crimson cover with gold sprayed edges and includes Elvish text. Accompanying the stories are a full-color foldout map and a removable art card. This release adds to a collection of over a dozen premium illustrated editions of Tolkien's saga, which are available for fans of Middle-earth. These include various versions of "The Hobbit," "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and "The Silmarillion."
