Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Gets Physical Switch Release Via Limited Run Games

Limited Run Games has announced a physical release for Aspyr's remaster of the 2013 reboot, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, for the Nintendo Switch. This follows the digital eShop launch of the port last year, which initially faced criticism from some fans but has since been improved by developer Aspyr.

The physical release will be available in two tiers: a Standard Edition priced at $49.99 and a Collector's Edition for $79.99. The Standard Edition includes the game on cartridge and a booklet. The Collector's Edition adds a steel case, a pry axe keychain, a map of Yamatai, and a physical soundtrack CD. The North American eShop currently lists the game for $30 less than the Standard physical edition.

Pre-orders for the physical Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition are open now, with an estimated shipping window between April 1, 2027, and June 30, 2027. Limited Run Games is known for its limited print runs, often restricting availability to direct sales, which can lead to higher prices and longer wait times for consumers.

This physical release arrives as major console manufacturers, such as Sony and PlayStation, are reportedly exploring a reduction in physical media support. Aspyr has recently released a port of Rise of the Tomb Raider, the second game in the Survivor Trilogy, for the Switch, and a similar physical release for Shadow of the Tomb Raider is anticipated.
