One More Level Games, known for its work on 2020's Ghostrunner, has announced that its upcoming title, Valor Mortis, will release on October 13 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The game is set to launch day one on Xbox Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to a 90-minute trial. This trial period includes saved progression that will carry over if players decide to purchase the full game.
Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike set in Napoleonic-era France. Players control William, a fallen soldier revived by a mysterious force. He discovers that a plague has transformed his comrades into monstrous beings. Armed with special abilities, players must fight these infected soldiers while collecting Catalysts and Ambers to unlock new skills and enhance William's stats. The game is expected to offer approximately 20 hours of gameplay.
The game will be priced at $39.99 across all platforms. Publisher Lyrical Games stated that this price point was chosen to allow Valor Mortis to compete more effectively with other titles releasing this season. "We believe it can go toe-to-toe with full-price titles but still, this fall is stacked. That's why we've decided to launch Valor Mortis for $39.99. We'll let our game do the talking when we launch on October 13!" read a statement from the publisher.
Digital pre-orders for Valor Mortis are not available, meaning no exclusive content is tied to early purchases and all players will have equal access at launch. However, physical editions of the game can be pre-ordered. These physical copies are particularly beneficial for Xbox players who can convert them into a digital license through Xbox's Disc to Digital program, enabling Play Anywhere functionality across PC and Xbox devices.
