Witchbrook, a Magical School Life-Sim, Sets January 2027 Release Date After a Decade of Development

After a lengthy 10-year development cycle, Chucklefish has announced that its magical school life-simulation game, Witchbrook, will be released on January 28, 2027. The publisher revealed the date during Nintendo's October Indie World showcase.

Witchbrook, which features a vibrant and colorful aesthetic, aims to capture the boundless possibilities of attending a magical academy. Chucklefish, known for publishing Stardew Valley and developing titles like Wargroove and Starbound, first shared early development images of Witchbrook in 2017. The game has since evolved, shifting from a side-on perspective to an isometric view.

The developers have emphasized a commitment to a no-crunch policy, allowing ample time to refine the game. Players in Witchbrook will be able to attend classes, pass magical exams, manage a business, and cultivate relationships, including romances, with fellow students. Character profiles for "coven mates" like Pip, Eli, and Leif have been revealed on the game's official website, hinting at the social dynamics players can expect.
