World of Warcraft: Forever Lets Players Reserve Character Names Today

Players planning to dive into World of Warcraft: Forever can begin reserving their character names starting today, provided they have pre-purchased one of the game’s bundles. This name reservation feature is exclusively for those who have pre-purchased, meaning existing World of Warcraft subscribers without a pre-purchase will not be able to reserve names.

Reservations for North American servers were scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. ET. European realm reservations were intended to open earlier but encountered technical issues that had yet to be resolved at the time of this report. It remains to be seen if North American servers will experience similar problems.

To reserve a character name, players must open the Battle.net app and install World of Warcraft: Forever. Those who have already pre-installed the game should check for and apply any available updates. Launching the game will grant access to the name reservation system when it becomes available.

While players cannot yet access the game content, they can select a ruleset—PvP, RP, or Normal—and create up to three new characters. This process involves choosing a class, race, appearance, and a first and last name. The game allows players to toggle between new and old character models in the graphics settings, which may be a consideration for those concerned with visual presentation.

With the introduction of last names in World of Warcraft: Forever, securing a desired character name may be less challenging. The system is expected to make it easier for players to obtain names close to their preferences without resorting to excessive special characters or syllables. It is recommended to have a few alternative name options ready.

World of Warcraft: Forever is set to launch on November 4.
