Demon's Souls Remake Achieves Over 100 FPS on PC Via Emulation

The Demon's Souls Remake, a PlayStation 5 exclusive since its 2020 launch, is now capable of running on PC at frame rates exceeding 100 FPS thanks to the unofficial Kyty PS5 emulator. YouTuber Geralt Benchmarks demonstrated the remake achieving this performance on a system featuring an RTX 5070 graphics card and an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor.

Utilizing DLSS frame generation, the emulated version reached over 100 FPS at 1440p resolution. Further footage shows the game hitting a mostly stable 120 FPS at 1080p. For comparison, when running with PS5 settings on the same PC hardware, the game occasionally surpassed 70 FPS. On the PS5 itself, Demon's Souls Remake is officially capped at 60 FPS and 1440p in performance mode.

While the emulated PC version offers a significantly higher frame rate, it is not without its issues. Geralt Benchmarks' footage indicates some noticeable hitching, though the author of the report found it not to be a deal-breaking level of disruption. The PS5's native 60 FPS performance, while lower, is noted for its consistency.

The Demon's Souls Remake remains exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 5. This development in emulation comes amid broader trends in PC gaming, including the continued evolution of PS3 emulation with projects like RPCS3 facing challenges with AI-generated content, and the successful native PC port of the influential P.T. demo.
