Valve has announced the pricing for its Steam Machine hardware, with models set to cost between $1,049 and $1,428. The company is implementing a reservation system to manage purchases and limit resellers, allowing interested customers to sign up until Thursday, June 25. A randomized process will then determine reservation and waitlist order.
Customers can join the reservation list any time before 10 a.m. PT on June 25. After the deadline, Valve will conduct a one-time randomization to establish order. Those who are selected for a reservation will receive an email on June 25 indicating that a Steam Machine has been reserved. As units become available for shipment, individuals in the reservation queue will receive further emails with purchase options, starting with the first batch on Monday, June 29. Others will be placed on a waitlist and notified when more units are available.
The Steam Machine lineup includes four configurations. The 512GB model is priced at $1,049, while a version including a Steam Controller costs $1,128. Higher-end configurations feature 2TB of storage; the 2TB model is $1,349, and the 2TB model with a Steam Controller is $1,428.
All Steam Machine models share a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6-core/12-thread CPU and a semi-custom AMD RDNA 3 28-core GPU. They are equipped with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Storage options are either a 512GB or 2TB NVMe SSD, with a microSD card slot for expansion. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Gigabit Ethernet. An integrated Steam Controller wireless adapter is also included. The hardware features a small form factor, approximately a 6-inch cube, and runs on SteamOS 3. The 2TB models also come with extra faceplates in red fabric and solid walnut.
